Who it's for
Our adults group takes members from fourteen up, and the oldest are past seventy. Most of them walked in having never trained. Some are chasing fitness, some want to compete, some just needed something that was theirs. You do not need to be fit first. You get fit by turning up, and waiting until you are ready is how people never start.
What a class looks like
Warm up
Movement, not punishment. You will be warm, not wrecked, before you learn anything.
Standing
The first of three sections. How to get someone to the ground, and how to stay on your feet when they try it on you.
Ground
What to actually do once you are down there. Position, control, and the detail inside it, drilled with a partner at your pace.
Live training
Where you practise applying what you have just learned against someone resisting. Nobody is thrown in on day one.
What to wear
T-shirt and shorts for your first class. We have gis you can borrow if you want to try the gi classes. Buy nothing until you know you are staying.

If you are brand new, start with a Fundamentals class. Monday 12:30pm, Tuesday 6:30pm or Thursday 5:30pm. They are built for people who have never done it.
Will I get smashed?
No. This is a family academy, not a fight gym. The coaches control the room and nobody has anything to prove by hurting a beginner. The people who have been here longest are usually the gentlest training partners you will get.
Not sure this is the one?
Have a look at these instead, or come in and let a coach point you the right way.
